Mackay Representative player Maddy Raccosta will face her former side for the first time since her mid-season transfer to the table topping Magpies in Round 10 of the Premier Women's competition.
Raccosta who moved up from Victoria after playing 45 games in the Victorian Women's Football League and 6 games this season as an Eastern Swan will line up in her 3rd game for her newly adopted club the Mackay Magpies.
The defensive mid who has kicked 10-goals across her 53 game career is a massive bonus for the Magpies as they lacked a first class user of the footy.
Raccosta has boosted the Magpies credentials and are likely to go back to back in the premiership race with hard-running Adriana Smith, silky mover Lisa Millard and strong defender Jaye Willis.
However, for the Swans have a numerous game-breakers including one of or if not the competitions best player in Alana McNabb. McNabb is a natural leader with superb skills and runs both ways but McNabb isn't the only Swan to keep an eye on.
The pressure act machine Melissa Prior and poise of Rebecca Grummitt, along with the smarts of Adele Webb, the Swans have the fire-power to worry the Magpies.
The Mackay Magpies are not only heavy favourites for this match but the premiership as well and with Round 10 the start of the second half of the season, all top sides start to ramp up their program's and start their run towards September.
But will the Magpies come out all guns blazing?
The inside word is that the Magpies team that will play on Saturday afternoon, may be one of the most inexperienced to take the field ever for the black and white. But the main reason the Magpies have been so dominate is because of their depth and wide range of experienced athletes from numerous sporting backgrounds.
All eyes are on the reigning champions and the Swans have nothing to lose.
McNabb, Grummitt, Prior, Webb, (Jess) Healey and (Katrina) Smith's influence and contribution will be key if the Swans are to record their fifth win of the season and move into second on the ladder.
For the Magpies, all eyes will be on Raccosta along with Millard, Smith, Willis and co. Definitely an interesting encounter and deserving status as the Premier Women's match of the round.
The last time these two sides met was in round 6 where the Magpies ran away 78-point victors. Magpie Rylie Smith booted 5 in a best on ground performance.
