The AFLDD Executive have appointed Chris Guice to the role of AFLDD Director of Umpires. Further information regards the appointment will be forthcoming. In a statement to all League members Chris Guice said, "I am delighted to come on board as the AFLDD Director of Umpiring and look forward to working with our Darling Down Umpiring group. Make no mistake it’s the players game and we shall do everything we can to develop, strengthen and always strive to improve in all aspects of our contribution to the game".
"There shall be a focus on umpire recruitment, retention and tutoring, the only way we can achieve that is by our football community being cooperative, supportive and respectful to our umpiring group. We already have a enthusiastic team of people involved and we wish to further increase our umpire numbers, I shall also be working with umpires out in the clubs and regions directing and educating them to further develop their skills and involvement in our game as umpires. We wish to create a family environment and see parents confident their children can go to any game, umpire and have a positive experience from their involvement. Shorty I shall be making contact with all club presidents and outlining our structure and the line of communication in relation to all umpiring matters. In closing I look forward to seeing you all around the Downs and our umpiring numbers ever growing".
