Just the one VFL game today, with an inaccurate Williamstown returning to the top of the ladder with a win over Footscray.

The Seagulls stormed home in the final term with 4.9 to 2.0 to keep the Bulldogs in seventh spot.

Telling facts: Williamstown made a statement to the competition by defeating the defending premier Footscray in a low-scoring affair in windy conditions at VU Whitten Oval. The Dogs were only three goals behind at the last break, but the Seagulls pulled away in the final quarter to celebrate vice-captain Cam Lockwood’s 100th VFL match in style.
