Brisbane Roar Youth extended their unbeaten run to five matches by stunning Olympic FC 4-1 at Perry Park on Saturday night.

All five goals were scored after the restart as Young Roar ran rampant, ending the visitors' three-match winning run.

Chances were few and far between in an even opening half with the first real opportunity falling to Nicholas D’Agostino, who sent his ninth-minute free kick just over the crossbar.

Olympic skipper Danny Byrne saw Roar ‘keeper Tomislav Bilic off his line on the 20 minute mark and tried his luck from long range but his effort was also marginally high of the woodwork.

Young Roar went even closer at the other end as Jaiden Walker found Shelford Dais down the left wing.

The club’s recently-named Foxtel National Youth League Player of the Year sidestepped three Olympic defenders before forcing debutant goalkeeper Duncan Short into a reaction save.

With the scores deadlocked, each coach made a substitute around the hour mark.

John Sime introduced Abrahim Yango while Jim Bellas replaced former Roar youngster Costa Psaros with Dylan Wenzell-Halls, who drew a diving save from Bilic just minutes after his introduction.

However, it was the home side's change that drew the rewards.

Captain Mitch Hore's back-heel sent Yango dribbling into the area where he found D’Agostino to shoot on the turn and make it 1-0.

Two minutes later, Benji Lyvidikos doubled the his side’s advantage with a deflected shot from long range before Yango turned goalscorer, rounding Short in the 74th minute to put the Roar 3-0 up.

Michael Lee pulled one back late for the visitors but it mattered little as substitute Conor O’Neill restored Young Roar's three goal advantage in the 87th minute with a sweet, curling strike from the edge of the area to confirm the 4-1 result.

Speaking after the match, Young Roar coach John Sime felt surviving the first 45 minutes was essential.

"I said at half time we were lucky to be in the game at 0-0 ... but once we rectified a few problems at half time I thought we controlled the game and deservedly won the game," Sime said.

Olympic forward Dylan Wenzel-Halls felt the opposition's sustained energy was a key factor.

"I just think their constant rotation and maybe their fitness levels got us in the end. They were buzzing around everywhere and we couldn't quite keep up," Wenzel-Halls said.
