We're 1/6 of the way through the 2015 AFLO season and it's already shaping as a very even season.
Many good stories to come out of#AFLOrd2 with most important being strong numbers across all 10 clubs.
Here's what happened in Round 2...
Etobicoke Kangaroos v Toronto Dingos
Phantom predicted a shootout which didnt materialize but he did pick the winner, the Roos. It was a hard fought game for two teams that should be contenders. Just 2 points in it at 3/4 time before a Roos barrage of 5 goals and 9 scoring shots lead to a comfortable victory. Strong numbers for both teams despite the Friday night game, both fielding 23 and good to see fan favourite Emile 'The Dragon' Studham back for the Roos, kicking 2 goals.
Central Blues v Toronto Rebels
Question: who would win a game between Carlton Blues and Central Blues? Answer: Phantom thinks it would be a 0-0 draw. Phantom is upset that he picked the Blues for this one, Last years Grand finalists have managed just 12 points in 2 games. In other news
#RebelsBrand has awoken from its slumber with 15 goals from 8 different goalkickers, including 5 from the Love Bros. Maybe less instagramming and more practice has helped the Rebs?
Hamilton Wildcats v Grand River Gargoyles
Guelph jumped out to a huge early lead in this one and never looked back, but Hamilton tried to make a go of it. The final margin of 16 points (btw Phantom picked Guelph by 22!) flattered the Wildcats but in the first two games they've shown they're big improvers. Visser kicked another 3 for Hamilton and the Dyer/Herbert combo combined for another 6 for Guelph. Northwind player Jacob Martin was best afield for Guelph. Still no Casey for Gargoyles and rumours swirling there will be no Casey at all.
Toronto Eagles v High Park Demons
It was the Falcioni show in the late game at Humber South with Big Az kicking 7. Kudos to the Dees for mustering up 23 players including one called Kewell, Phantom hopes his nickname is Harry. Despite Harry's return from retirement this was a slaughter and teams sleeping on the Eagles will walk away with the tails between their legs. Seriously any chance of either club recording best players to make Phantom's job a little easier?
Ottawa Swans v Broadview Hawks
Phantom predicted this was a Grand Final preview but regrets that statement. Just like Guelph did the Hawks jumped out to an early lead and it was game over. Three surprises from the teamsheet were Crimmins back for Ottawa, no Ryan for the Hawks and Shuttleworth having to settle for being out-goaled by a Canadian for the second week in a row. When is the last time that happened?
There you have it. It's on to Round 3. Stay tuned for Phantom's predictions which have been pretty spot on so far this season!
