How many years have you been involved in the league/club and in what capacity?
Played from 1971-74 with Euroa, been on the GOTAFE GVFL Board since 1993
Why do you do what you do (president, board member, coach, volunteer)?
Like to be involved with sport especially football, volunteering is something that keeps the body ticking over. With my family now grown up excited to give back to a league that has looked after me.
What do you do when you are not volunteering/coaching?
Work for the Strathbogie Shire Council, and play bowls, and follow all other sports keenly.
What has been your most rewarding experience in the role you currently have?
Being involved with the Interleague successes over the years has been very rewarding and hopeful in 2017 of gaining our number 1 back. 1990 premiership success with Euroa with 13 players on the team having come through the junior ranks.
What advice would you give someone who is on the fence about volunteering/coaching?
It is good to become part of the club and work within the communities to support the next generation. By doing this you are shaping the next group of leaders within the community and very satisfying to see what they become.
Who is the best player to have ever played in the GVFL?
Gary Cooper (Mooroopna great and inaugural Hall of Fame inductee) won three Morrison Medals, played Interleague and a star during the 1970's and '80's.
What are you looking forward to in 2015?
Working with AFL Goulburn Murray is a new phase of the GOTAFE GVFL and the potential for the league to get bigger and better is looking good so far.
Which player do you think crowds will enjoy watching in season 2015 and why?
Nathan Gilliland, he is a good leader and a great tutor. He is also a leader by actions not just by words. The playing group respond and respect what he offers.
Who will play off in the Grand Final in season 2015?
Rochester v Euroa
If you could pick any player from within the league to be in your team who would it be and why?
Luke Morgan Benalla, Very similar mould to Gilliland great playing coach, leads by example and can relate and educate younger players.
