In a big afternoon of VFL Round 7 action, winners were Essendon, Williamstown, Collingwood, Sandringham and Port Melbourne.
Williamstown jumped to top spot on the ladder, finally reversing two 2-point defeats this season to claim a thrilling 2-point win over Geelong. Port Melbourne joined the queue of teams on five wins with a comprehensive win over North Ballarat, while Sandringham knocked Werribee off top in convincing fashion.
Essendon and Collingwood rounded out the Saturday matches with comfortable six goal plus wins over Richmond and Coburg respectively.
WILLIAMSTOWN d GEELONG
Margin: 2 points
Telling facts: Williamstown jumped out to an 18 point lead in the final term, but goals to Close, Blease and Walker saw the Cats close to within three points as it ticked into time on. The next 10 minutes produced just three behinds as the Seagulls hung on for a close win.

PORT MELBOURNE d NORTH BALLARAT
Margin: 80 points
Telling facts: A devastating 12-goal opening term set up the win for Port Melbourne. The Borough were led out of the middle by Nathan Batsanis with 40 disposals and 10 individual goal kickers.

ESSENDON dRICHMOND
Margin: 44 points
Telling facts: A six goal to one opening term helped set up back to back wins for the first time this season for Essendon. In the VFL Dreamtime match, Bomber Alex Browne won the Sir Doug Nicholls award for best on ground with his 29 disposals.

COLLINGWOOD d COBURG
Margin: 39 points
Telling facts: After a close first half, Collingwood led by as much as 51 points in the third term. Michael Still jumped to the equal lead on the VFL goal kicking ladder with his third four goal haul in a row. The win was the Magpies fourth in a row.

SANDRINGHAM d WERRIBEE
Margin: 40 points
Telling facts: A three goal unanswered second term from Sandringham helped the Zebras knock Werribee from top spot on the ladder. After trailing by 16 points at half time, the Tigers claimed back within a point in the third term, but the home team steadied with six of the last eight goals of the game.
