After a great round of footy in #AFLOrd1, I'm expecting to see a lot more of the same this week with some big games to be played in #AFLOrd2.
Some teams have already shown they are ready for season 2015, while some look like they didn't know there was a footy season, failing to field a complete squad. What surprises could this weekend bring?
Etobicoke Kangaroos vs Toronto Dingos
This game is more fitting of Friday Night Footy than the GF replay last weekend and could be a shootout. Should be a belter with both teams registering strong wins in Round 1. The Dingos have a strong forward line with my old fave Wade and new fave Fridge alongside stalwart Butch. Bretta cant cover everyone so who will he take? Same goes for the Dingos matchups with JR, Cuzner, Chippa and Haesler all forward running goal kickers for the Roos. Phantom predicting a goal fest in perfect 21 degree weather.
Phantom Prediction: Roos in an upset by 10
Central Blues vs Toronto Rebels
Neither team kicked a first half goal last week so that's goal number one for this clash. Central had Rossington and Whittington in the best last week and Phantom-ly-shire-ton is putting forward that the best nickname for those two gets something from Kanga Pies. Its only Round 2 but this could be a critical game for both these teams. The Rebels will have a tough schedule because they finished top last year and Phantom thinks by the end of year the Blues will be in the pack fighting for 6th. Who rebounds best from round 1 spanking? Phantom thinks Goedheer and co. will get it done.
Phantom Prediction: Blues by 19
Hamilton Wildcats vs Grand River Gargoyles
A good test for Hamilton as they go up the road to Guelph. Will Neil Casey make an appearance for Guelph this week? He could be a huge inclusion and the Wildcats lack bigs even with Settle back. Just like Dingos and Roos this could be a shootout on the small Guelph field and both teams stacked with Aussies up forward. Visser, Bulldog and Digits for the Cats, Kerm, Dyer and Herbert for Guelph.
Phantom Prediction: Gargoyles by 22
Toronto Eagles vs High Park Demons
Phantom fears this could be a blowout with the Eagles looking strong in Round 1 and the Demons only fielding 17 players. The Eagles still have their experienced group of Azza, Sos, Minaker, Kennedy, Frank together and have found some Aussies and High Park seems inexperienced with no Aussies. And which team does Quigley play for now? Phantom hears he's an Eagle now but didn't play last week.. It will be TMZ worthy if he shows up this week in yellow and blue.
Phantom Prediction: Eagles by 103
Ottawa Swans vs Broadview Hawks
Game of the Week and Grand Final preview? Phantom's Street Team reports that these two both looked really strong all the way across the field last week so this could be a game with plenty of strong 1 on 1 matchups. Big question is who takes AFL Ontarios version of Buddy and Roughead? Shutts and Ryan. Ottawa had their own 4 goal kicker last week though in Daniel Robinson, does Pablo go to him? Will we see Harden vs Curry with Dullard and Storm matching up on eachother? It's too bad four spectators will be there to watch this one as it should be a classic.
Phantom Prediction: Hawks by 6
Well there you have it!! Looks like a solid weekend of footy, with some good match ups.. See you all next week!
