Concordia Lutheran College showed they are the new powerhouse of Primary School Boys footy with their demolishing of their opponents throughout the day.
This year was a little bit different with 3 schools competing in the Brisbane Lions Cup. Concordia Lutheran College, Our Lady of Southern Cross Dalby and Withcott competed in the carnival day.
A massive congratulation’s must go out to Withcott State School who competed in the carnival with a boys’ team and an all-girls team that showed their all against their male counterparts.
The Withcott (Girls) played their hearts all day and never stopped trying. They continually harassed, tackled and when they got the ball into space they were dangerous. They did not have one girl that had played club AFL footy but they improved dramatically by the end of the day. They finished the day pushing the Withcott (boys) all the way in the battle for 3rd place kicking 5 goals to be the biggest improvers throughout the day.
The Withcott (Boys) were relatively new to AFL as well. They played a fantastic brand of footy of fast hands and moving the ball into space for each other. Tyhe fought hard all to finish in 3rd place and will look to improve further in 2016.
OLOSCC are a very experienced team in the AFL world. They played a strong inside game to get the ball out to their smooth movers. They were able to beat both Withcott teams but they couldn't get over top of the Concordia boys. OLOSCC were strong throughout and loved to tackle and get their hands dirty. In 2016 they will look to add their name to the Trophy for a 5th time.
Concordia were the power house team of the Carnival. They were strong in the contest, they had too much class on the outside and they played to their structures. Concordia dominated from the start of the day all the way to the Grand-Final. They had never won the Brisbane Lions Cup but all nerves were extinguished as they kicked the opening goal and never looked back. They boys played a fantastic style of footy and were rewarded with victory in the Grand-Final.
Congratulations to all teams for competing in the Brisbane Lions Cup.
