Boi Wonder Seals Points for Floreat
Report by Alasdair Beer
Ludovic Boi’s great run of form continued as he netted a brace in Floreat Athena’s 3-1 PS4 National Premier Leagues WA win at Inglewood United.
Fresh from last week’s hat trick against ECU Joondalup, Boi was again a constant menace in blustery conditions at Inglewood Stadium.
He scored the opener in the 32nd minute after finishing a beautiful passing move from Floreat’s back half.
Inglewood struck back soon afterwards, punishing a sloppy Floreat clearance, as Kenny Keogh slotted a cool finish into the bottom corner after being played through.
Despite the difficult conditions, both sides were eager to attack.
Scott Witschge showed great dash to get down the left for Inglewood, finding David Sesay with his cross, only for his shot to go wide after a deflection.
Aleksandar Vrteski kept the hosts’ level minutes later, diving to his right to keep out a Bobby Wilson effort.
Floreat were on the back foot in the early stages of the second half, with keeper Dejan Aleksic reacting sharply to save a Kenny Keogh back-heel.
The visitors went ahead soon after as Dennis Galan picked out Clayton Arnez with a perfect lofted pass. Arnez showed great poise to control the ball before calmly finishing.
Vrteski had been solid all game for Inglewood, but gifted Boi his second with 10 minutes to play after missing a simple clearance.
The clinical Boi took full advantage, rounding Vrteski before finding the right-hand corner.
Floreat Coach Glen Grostate was pleased with his side’s performance.
“3-1 against a good team in difficult conditions, I’m very happy with that,” he said.
Grostate said he was pleased with the spread of contributors.
“Kris Gate ran and ran, and did a lot of work off the ball. Bobby (Wilson) and Aryn (Williams) at the back were superb – it’s pretty hard for me to single out individuals tonight.”
Inglewood Coach Michael Garcia was at a loss to explain his side’s inability to seal results.
“We played really well today and I’m still a little bemused at how we lost 3-1,” he said.
“It’s a bit frustrating that good performances and good play don’t get rewarded – we conceded through sloppy mistakes of our own.”
Inglewood are away to Armadale next week, whilst Floreat host Perth.
