Peninsula Power Women scored six second half goals to capture a commanding 7-1 victory over Western Pride Women at A.J. Kelly Park on Saturday night.
The two teams were level at the break before the home side exploded into to life to seal their third straight win.
Power were the more attacking of the pair in the first half, opening the scoring in the 10th minute through Brieanna Watt.
However, Pride did manage to level proceedings before the break as former Westfield W-League striker Sasha McDonnell made it 1-1.
That joy proved to be short-lived as a red card within 10 minutes of the restart put the Ipswich outfit on the back foot and saw Power take full advantage.
Free-scoring attacker Brittany Whitfield was first to capitalise, restoring the hosts’ lead with her eighth goal in five matches.
Chelsea Martin made it 3-1 minutes later before Toni Brescianini effectively put the result beyond doubt by netting Power’s third goal in eight minutes.
The floodgates remained open in the final 20 minutes as Brescianini, Watt and Martin all completed their braces to complete a whirlwind second stanza.
The result means Power are now within one point of the top six, while Pride remain in eighth.
