Harry Boyd is a young man going places.
He has the right attitude despite not playing in a win in his six senior games with Shepparton.
The 17-year-old debuted in the last round of last year against the Shepparton Swans.
And fancy having to line up on one of the best defenders to have played in our competition over the past two years – Dan Lovick.
He says he has learnt plenty from that game and Boyd has been one the shining light for Bears this year.
Boyd says his initiation into senior footy has been tough and he credits the coach for his early season form.
“Brad has been really good to me and a win is definitely around the corner,” he said.
“We are working hard as a group and there have been some good signs each week.”
“The camaraderie of the boys has been really good this year, even though we haven’t won yet.”
The Year 11 Notre Dame College student started playing with his primary school St Mel’s.
He graduated to playing with Notre Dame in the Shepparton Junior Football Association competition before moving to Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley League.
And he says there are two obvious differences playing in the thirds and the seniors – pace and physicality.
Boyd is part of the TAC Cup club set up with the Murray Bushrangers.
His goals are simple for the remainder of the year.
“I would like to play Bushrangers and get a few wins on the board with Shepparton.
Last week, Boyd was one of the best in his team’s loss to Mansfield with two goals.
