The Goondiwindi Hawks travel to Heritage Oval to take on the South Toowoomba Bombers.
It is a game of 1st vs 4th. The Goondiwindi Hawks haven't lost a game in 2015 and will look to continue that momentum throughout the season. The Hawks have been impressive and showed they are the team to beat in 2015 with a gutsy 4 point victory over Coolaroo. David O'Toole has been the stand out with 28 goals registered next to his name. The best thing for the Hawks has been the equal spread of work load over their full 22 players who take the field each week.
South Toowoomba Bombers sit in 4th with one victory but could be sitting higher on the ladder if they could have held their nerve and been fit enough. In the last three weeks they have been up by 4 goals late in the 3rd quarter to lose by 7 and 6 points respectively to the Hawks and the Redbacks. For Souths to have any chance they must find more avenues to goal other than their superstar full forward Dan McPhee.
The last time these teams met it was a nail biting thriller of 7 points with David O'Toole starring kicking 10 goals to be the difference. Souths will need to contain O'Toole and 2014 Holman Medallist Jeremy Leah if they are to have any chance to turn their season around. For Souths look for Jacob Rose to bully his way through packs and create from the back-half while evergreen James Kratzmann to get out into space and look to deliver to his forward line.
This game is the turning point for both teams, a Hawks win and they show they can win on the road and will be the Premiership Favourites while a Bomber’s lose makes it so hard to gain ground on the Top if they lose touch. It is only round 5 but this is a big game for both teams. Hawks looking to show they are the premiership fancies while the Bombers look to make the finals for the first time in 3 years. This match could answer a few questions for the 2015 season.
Get down to Heritage Oval for a cracking match starting at 6:15pm on Saturday evening.
