SWQ Thunder have secured a home tie against Toowoomba community club West Wanderers in Westfield FFA Cup South West Queensland Zone Qualifying Round 5.
The venue and date were confirmed on Tuesday in a random draw in the Football Queensland offices.
The match will be played on Wednesday, May 13 at Clive Berghofer Stadium - Thunder’s primary home ground in PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland - and will determine the last team standing in the South West Queensland zone.
Despite sitting bottom of the table in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland, Thunder will be considered slight favourites against their third-tier opponents in the knock-out clash.
Thunder are yet to record a league win since entering PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland in 2014 and currently sit at the foot of the table.
However, the club has form in the Westfield FFA Cup,, recording their sole competitive victory in last year’s competition - edging out community club Willowburn 2-1 in extra time - before being eliminated in the next round by fellow PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland outfit Palm Beach SC.
Wanderers have won four of their first five games in the Football Toowoomba Premier Men’s league and currently sit top of the six team, third-tier competition.
The winner of the South West Queensland Zone Qualifying Round 5 match will face the winner of Gold Coast Zone Qualifying Round 5, which is being contested between defending PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiers Palm Beach SC and community club Broadbeach United.
