A big day of VFL action saw wins to Coburg, Werribee, Williamstown, Collingwood and Geelong.

GEELONG d RICHMOND
Margin: 9 points
Telling facts: Geelong entered the final term with one of the bench due to injuries to Smedts (shoulder), Williams (ankle) and Farrelly (ankle). After five lead changes in the final quarter, Geelong kicked the last two goals of the game to McIntosh and Gibbs to claim the win.

COBURG d FRANKSTON
Margin: 16 points
Telling facts: It was the battle of the breeze at Coburg, with Frankston unable to capitalise with the use of it in the final term. Four unanswered goals in the second term to the Dolphins saw them out a 15-point lead, but two late goals got the Lions back within striking distance and they hit the lead in the third and did not relinquish it.

COLLINGWOOD d FOOTSCRAY
Margin: 4 points
Telling facts: After controlling the first half, Collingwood was challenged in the second with Footscray fighting back to hit the lead early in the final term. The Magpies were able to settle for win number one for the season.

WILLIAMSTOWN d NORTH BALLARAT
Margin: 81 points
Telling facts: A nine goal to nil first half helped set up the win for the Seagulls.

WERRIBEE d PORT MELBOURNE
Margin: 12 points
Telling facts: Hitting the lead in time on in the second term, Werribee kept it till the final siren. Port Melbourne challenged in the last term, getting back within five points, but Billy Iles settled with his sixth to give the Tigers two wins in a row.
