The Round 2 Rising Start nominee is Kiona Vance from Macquarie University.
Kiona ‘Keys’ Vance is an 18 year old from Perth, who previously played with the Joondalup Falcons in the Junior Womens competition. After an impressive showing throughout pre-season training, Kiona made her senior debut for the Warriors on April 18 against Newtown Breakaways at University Oval. The first round saw a lot of debutants take to the field and Kiona attacked the ball relentlessly, communicated perfectly and was a superb role model for the other rookies. She has brought extra defensive pressure to the table for the Warriors Womens team.
Having already shown much promise in round 1, in round 2 against Southern Power, Kiona showed great poise and skill while gathering many contested possessions and crucial marks, assisting the Warriors in a solid win. Kiona was named among the team’s best players on the day. Highlights include numerous vital marks polished off with accurate delivery to the mid fielders and forward line. The Warriors look forward to helping Kiona develop her football skills and knowledge throughout 2015.
