MWYSA are shooting Hoops for Health
Over than 20 staff from MWYSA recently took part in Hoop for Health, an initiative aimed at getting more people physically active through "3x3" basketball, to reduce or prevent Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) such as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. Being physically active is very important for both males and females, from young children to elderly people.
As the leading Ministry for matters relating to sport, women, youth, disabilities and elderly, MWYSA jumped at the opportinuty to be involved in the hoops for health program not only to encourage Ministry staff to be active but also to raise awareness in the broader community on the important of sport and physical activity for everyone, regardless of their gender, age and ability.
Hoops for Health is delivered by the Kiribati Basketball Federation in communities and primary schools on South Tarawa and with Government Ministries is fully funded by Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through the Pacific Sport Partnership Program.
The MWYSA is now egerly to run another lunctime session coming up on Thursday 30th April.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
