Lachlan Bennetts, U19 Colts Co-Captain will make his First Grade debut for the Tigers this Sunday against UNSW-ES. Lachie has been pushing for selection after a strong pre-season where he did not miss a session and worked hard on improving his skills and fitness. An impressive display in the U19 Colts match last week left the selectors with no choice but to pick him into an already very strong senior team. His dedication to the club is second to none, after playing Friday night Lachie backed up by playing in the 5th Division team and then running water for 1st grade.
Lachie comes to us from Drummoyne Power, a well respected junior club within AFL Sydney Juniors. He was first noticed by a Balmain player coaching Lachie as an U14 at Drummoyne and immediately by the coaches at Balmain in joint training sessions with the Power's U17s last year. Balmain provide one of many player pathways for the Drummoyne and Glebe boys and we hope to strengthen that relationship by providing kids like Lachie an opportunity to be a part of Tigerland.
Glebe Greyhounds are another junior club we provide a pathway for and 8 of last years Premiership team played their junior footy at Glebe, including Club Captain Brad Plug.
We are extremely proud and lucky to have a natural leader like Lachie to be a part of the Balmain Tigers. We're all very excited for his big game on Sunday. Congratulations Lachie!
