Pre-Season is Here

Our Women's SBL squad started official pre-season training for 2007 on January 4th, but individually the girls have been preparing themselves for the 5km run that was to be the first squad session.  Since then the squad has trained three times per week, building up to 6km, before tackling a series of agility and sprints based sessions, and on-court fitness and strength training.

"The times the girls have been producing have been very pleasing", Coach Glasson said, "much better than this time last year".

With the core of last year's squad returning, this is a strong indicator that 2007 will be another step up in the teams performance, and sees the grls well on track to make the finalsfor the first time in over five years.

"We were very unfortunate to miss the finals last year, by only one game, so we're really working hard to make sure it happens this year." added Coach Glasson.  "Ainsleigh Sanders is planning to take on the College Basketball scene in the USA, and will be preparing for this in the eastern states during the winter.  She is a huge loss to us, so we'll need to make up for the loss of her inside presence, with a much more up-tempo style of play.

The Women's Squad will continue their current training program for the remainder of January, before changing to three on-court sessions per week for February and March, with the season set to tip-off on March 30th/31st.
