The defending Premiers will be looking to bounce back against the High flying Bombers in this classic under 16 match.
The South Toowoomba Bombers started their 2015 season campaign off with a dominated display against 2014 runners up Coolaroo in round 1. Their 105 point victory announced to the rest of the competition that they will be one of the teams to beat in 2015. It all started in the midfield with dominate ruckmen Callum Walters giving his classy midfield first ball use. Once they got their hands on the footy they looked to move the ball fast and direct. Ryan Neumann will be a nightmare for the Lions to handle in their defensive 50. Tom Readon never stopped running all day as he kicked 6 goals from the midfield pushing forward and then pushing back to cover in defence as well. South’s will continue to play high risk high reward footy throughout the 2015 season.
The Lions only narrowly went down to the Cougars and will be looking to get into the winning circle in round 2. They were in front at half time but ran out of gas in the second half. Look for them to have a strong 4 quarter display in this match. Lachlan Strachan was best on for the Lions and his run out of the backline and through the middle will be the key for them winning this match. Jacob Sheath must stand up in the middle and use his size to break through the lines. He will need to on defensively as well as the Bombers do have midfielders who will push forward when they get the chance.
They Key matchup will be the two big bodied boys who will both run through the midfield at some point. Sam Baldock’s attack on the ball and the man was one of the main reasons the Lions were so dominate in 2014. Look for Sam to smash through packs to dish the ball out. While South’s finally have a heard man themselves in Ashley Britton. Ashley is ferocious when he doesn't have the ball and look for his defensive pressure to go a long way in deciding this match.
