New in 2015, the award will seek to acknowledge some of the league’s up-and-coming football and netball stars.
Monthly nominees will receive a one-on-one coaching session with Gippsland Power TAC Cup coach Leigh Brown or a specialised netball coach.
Overall AGA Rookie of the Year will be crowned at the end of season presentation dinner and receive an exclusive AFL or netball experience.
TRFM Gippsland League chair Greg Maidment thanked AGA for its generous support for the awards.
‘‘The board is delighted to have AGA come on board as a major sponsor and give us the opportunity to celebrate our budding stars,’’ Maidment said.
‘‘AGA has a great history supporting young people in Gippsland and we see their partnership as a great fit for our league.’’
AGA will also sponsor the league’s online TV Portal, which will host an ‘AGA Match-of-the-Round’ every week throughout the home-and-away season, as well as every match during the finals series and monthly highlights packages.
The TV Portal was introduced to great success for last year’s final series and Maidment said its expansion was another way the league would be promoted in 2015.
‘‘With live radio coverage on TRFM for the first time and access to match vision on our TV portal, the reach of the Gippsland League will be further than ever,’’ Maidment said.
AGA chief executive Mark Knox was pleased to announce the partnership with TRFM Gippsland League.
"We see an obvious synergy to align ourselves with the leading sporting competition in Gippsland and look forward to a strong, long-term partnership with local football and netball into the future," Knox said.
"AGA sees many benefits in partnering with organisations supporting the region’s young people and in promoting teamwork and participation through sport.
"In times where youth unemployment and disengagement is too high, an approach focusing on imparting some important life skills can positively impact the Gippsland region.
"We maintain an unwavering commitment to supporting and meeting the needs of local employers and the Gippsland League sponsorship is a vehicle to promote AGA as a prominent local business providing quality services to industry in Gippsland."
