BENALLA v SEYMOUR
The Lions will be out to reverse a trend with the Saints winning both contests last year.
Luke Morgan's men made a statement in the season opener by travelling to Mansfield and come away with a big win.
Josh Mellington is sure to be a handful for the Lions while the midfield battle will be one worth paying the admission price to go and watch.
Morgan will be assisted by the Martiniello boys - Will and James while the Lions have a stable of good midfielders led by Brett Meredith.
They have plenty of experience on the list through Brent and Paul Colbert along with goal-kicking ace Saad Saad.
You add Tim Bongetti to the forward line and the likes of Lachie Smith will need to be on their game to keep the visitors to a losing score.
For me, the Lions will be a much better team this season, but so will the Saints so I'm going for the home team by 26 points.
EUROA v MANSFIELD
Mansfield can't wait for today to right the wrongs of last weekend.
The Eagles were unable to keep pace with the Saints, but they will be confident they can match it with Euroa.
Euroa remains an unknown, having not played last weekend.
They will be well prepared having played a series of practice matches, but there is nothing like the real thing.
Coach Nathan Gilliland made an immediate impact for the Magpies and it will be interesting to see how the new additions make the transition.
One that many will be interested in is 2013 premiership Murchison player James Milne.
For all reports, Milne has been very solid in the practice matches.
Mansfield have got a good core of players from last year's list that will be looked upon by Simon Dolling to led the way.
Ex-Geelong player George Burbury will be better for the run and expect him to be more influence against the Pies.
In a tight contest, I think the Pies will sneak across the line with a 15 point win.
SWANS v SHEPPARTON
First round losers, Shepparton Swans and Shepparton will be desperate to not be 0-2 at 4.45 pm this afternoon.
There was a lot to like about the reigning premier despite their narrow loss to the Cats.
Likewise for Shepparton in their defeat to United.
Dan Willis was on fire for the Bears with six goals while the Swans coach says his team needs to work on using the ball better, with turnovers proving costly against the Cats.
The Swans will still be a very good team according to some top Cat officials.
And despite the loss, they will only get better and I expect that they will be able to get past the Bears to the tune of 30 points.
MOOROOPNA v UNITED
This be one of the games of the round, especially when taking into the account the history between these sides. They have always put on some ripper contests over the past five years, including in a recent grand final.
United need to look past the fact the Cats dumped them out of the finals.
It is important Tim Looby and 'Donk' have the group focussed on the task ahead.
Some of the new faces for the Demons were impressive against the Bears.
"If you have said to me at the start of the game we would win by 35 points I would have taken it," Looby said following the win against the Bears.
He knows the Cats will be a much tougher opponent, given that many pundits are forecasting them to be in the top echelon of teams this winter.
The Cats dealt with the expectations beautifully last week with a gusty win against the Swans.
They will get better and so will some of the players that didn't have good games.
Despite playing away from home I think the Cats will take the points by 10 points.
ECHUCA v KYABRAM
Echuca will be looking for an improvement after a heavy defeat to Rochester.
Coach Andrew Briggs knows no game will be easy this winter and they face the Bombers off the back of a good win against Tatura.
Justin Sherman started his coaching career with a win and some of the usual suspects like Chris Atkins, Jason Morgan and Jordan Williams were among the better players.
The Murray Bombers will be without boom recruit Scott Beattie.
Beattie was injured in the opening quarter during the loss to Rochester.
Lachie Collins will be out to build on his impressive debut while Simon Buckley will be another key for the home team.
For me, Kyabram has plenty of class and experience to overcome the Murray Bombers and they will win by six goals.
ROCHESTER v TATURA
Rochester will be out to make it two wins in a row and heap more misery on Tatura - the team that knocked out of the premiership race last year.
The loss of Grant Weeks has made the Tigers less predictable.
"They were very good at hitting up the lead up targets," Echuca coach Andrew Briggs said.
Rochester had 12 players kick their sixteen goals and Tatura's defence will have its work cut out trying to keep the home team to a losing score.
There were plenty of positives to take out of the game against Kyabram for the Doggies.
Daniel Flynn did well in the ruck while veteran Paul Kirby booted five goals, playing mainly as a forward.
For mine the Tigers have too much class on every line to let this four points slip through their fingers and they will win by 27 points.
