The Roos and Saints had different starts to 2015 with the Roos narrowly loosing while the Saints won in their inaugural match. South Burnett and Coolaroo have never played against each other in the women’s competition and will be looking to gain 4 valuable premiership points.
The Saints marched into the 2015 season with a strong 68 point victory over the Lockyer Valley Demons. Celina Blanch was the dominate women’s player in their first match kicking a game high 3 goals and was named Best on Ground for her efforts. They have a bevy of targets to kick to in their forward line with Celina Blanch, Emily Ewing and Jessica Langton who all kicked multiple goals last game. The Saints want to show they are ready to play finals footy and they are not just making up the numbers. A massive statement would be beating the Roo girls at Gold Park.
The Roo’s will be hoping that does not happen as they can ill afford to go 0-2 out of the blocks in 2015. The Roo’s came so close for their first victory over traditional rivals South’s. Jade Hose is the inspirational skipper and her girls follow her into battle every time they cross that white line. She will need to be at her best today along with the Pasfield twins. Coolaroo came into this season with high expectations from external sources but also internally they could make themselves a premiership contender. They need to find a tall target in their forward line and would be looking to Representative player Amelia Cooke to stand up and kick a bag.
Both teams will come into the game full of confidence and whichever team can get on the outside and run will go a long way to winning this match.
Get down to Gold Park on Saturday for 3:50pm start.
