Country will be looking to avenge last year’s defeat when it tackles City in the annual MAC Cup at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
With the ledger square at four wins a piece, Country is set to field a strong line-up made up of last year’s Team of the Championships at the SA Country Titles in Kadina.
Speaking on Community Football Radio, Country coach Luke Duncan – the 2014 coach of the SA Country Championships – said he was looking forward to guiding his men from 4.20pm in the curtain-raiser to the Port Adelaide v Sydney AFL match.
Duncan, who steered Murray South East to its first SA Country Championship last year, reveals the players to keep an eye on, particularly those who have previously played at SANFL level.
For the first time in the MAC Cup, the City team will be represented by last year’s Division 1 Amateur League premier, Goodwood Saints.
The Saints, who played in a trial match against Port Adelaide’s SANFL side last weekend, will be coached by former South Adelaide rover Trent Mills.
The Peter Kitschke Medal will be awarded to the best country player on the ground while the best City player will receive the Bill Botten Medal.
