Brisbane Clubs Enter Cup Draw
Words: Michael Flynn
Brisbane-based PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland clubs will take the first step on their path to Westfield FFA Cup 2015 glory tomorrow.
Football Brisbane will conduct the Brisbane Zone Qualifying Round 5 draw Thursday morning.
Six PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs will feature in the draw - Brisbane City, Brisbane Strikers, Moreton Bay United, Olympic FC, Redlands United and Western Pride.
They will be joined by ten clubs from Football Brisbane administered competitions in the draw - including local powerhouses Lions FC, who currently sit top of the third-tier Trophy Superstore Premier League table.
In 2014, Brisbane Strikers and Olympic FC progressed via the Brisbane Zone qualifying pathway to the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
Both sides ultimately recorded historic wins on the national stage against Broadmeadow Magic (Northern New South Wales) and Melbourne Knights (Victoria), respectively, before being subsequently eliminated from the competition in the Round of 16.
As reward for their qualification via the Brisbane Zone in 2014, Olympic and Strikers contested the Final of the Canale Travel Cup, which saw Strikers win their first silverware since 2012.
In 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs are ineligible to compete in the Canale Travel Cup.
Brisbane Zone Qualifying Round 5 fixtures are preliminarily scheduled to be played in late April and early May.
