As a program under the Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC), the Oceania Sport Education Program (OSEP) will be hosting an orientation for its new sport education officers of the North Pacific Zone here in Palau from March 30 – April 2, 2015 from 8:00am – 5:00pm at the Palau National Olympic Committee conference room.
OSEP is made up of a number of training programs. These programs have been designed to provide a regional approach to sport education in the Pacific by developing flexible and relevant training in the areas of coaching, officiating, administration and assessor/presenter training. OSEP provides competency-based training with a strong emphasis on practical activities and learning to provide the foundation for the development of coaches, officials and administrators. OSEP programs can also provide the foundation to assist sports develop specific courses.
The facilitators conducting the orientation include OSEP regional coordinator Ms. Sainimili Talatoka from Fiji and OSEP Zone 1 Coordinator Ms. Jubilee Kuartei from Palau. The participants that will attend this training are the sport education officers of the Federated States of Micronesia (Pohnpei & Yap), Marshall Islands and Palau.
The purpose for this orientation is to conduct training for the new OSEP staff in the north Pacific in their roles and job descriptions, work plans and training calendars, key performance indicators, and to build a network among the staff to assist in OSEP development in the north pacific.
