Defending Premiers Warwick Redbacks play host to Runners Up University Cougars in the match of the round.
The Redbacks made Reddies oval a fortress in 2014 loosing only once all year at home. If they wish to defend their title they again must make Reddies oval a fortress. Their first assignment is up against 2014 Runners Up University Cougars who wil be looking for some revenge after loosing in the decider last year.
Warwick were at their best when there midfield was able to get on top. They have the best midfield in the competition and they love to get on their bikes and push forward for goals. They do not have a clear target in the forward line so they must again rely on their midfielders to kick multiple goals to kick a winning score just like 2014. There midfield is the envy of the competition however there most important player is young-gun Timothy Tate who played a massive part in their drought breaking Grand-Final win. His ability to push off his direct opponent and become third man up is huge for the Redbacks.
While the Redbacks have the best midfield in the competition, the same could be said for the Cougars forward line. They have tall targets who all know how to take a strong mark however their fleet footed forwards is there most dangerous assest in the forward 50. Their talls can be wayward in front of goal but evergreen Heith Gneil and young gun Sam Banim know where the big sticks are and love a team lifting goal. Look to Warwick to nullify these two in the forward 50 and push them up the ground to find the ball.
This game will come down to the wire. Warwicks midfield need to win the majority of the footy and push back as hard as they push forward because if they don't there defneders will be put under a lot of pressure. While for the Cougars there midfield needs to be accountable and not get lost trying to run the ball into the forward line and make sure they keep tabs of their direct oppenants at all times.
Do not miss this great game of footy to kick of the 2015 Division 1 Senior Mens competition at 2pm at Reddies Oval. The drive will be worth it.
