Footy season is back in town with the Defending Premiers University Cougars coming up against the Highfields Lions at Kratzke Oval, Highfields. Kick off at 7pm.
Highfields come into 2015 as an unknown, they have stepped back from having 2 senior mens team split across Division 1 and Division 2 too just the sole team in Division 2. The Lions have always been hard to tame at the den and will look to continue that trend in 2015. They won the under 16 premiership in 2014 and will look to their young guns to continue their development in Senior Division 2 football.
University Cougars are the defending premiers and will look to go back to back in 2015. Last year they used a mix of young players and experienced heads to win the premiership. In the decider 3 young guns stamped their authority on the big day to lead the cougars to victory. Isaac Parker, Sam Cooper and Josh White will look to stamp their authority on opening night to cement their place in the Division 1 team. The three boys will want to play consistent Division 1 footy and will look to start the season with a bang.
The Lions were one win away from their First Senior Grand-Final appearance in 2014 but ultimately fell short to the University Cougars who marched into the 2104 decider. The game was over by half time as the Cougars strolled to 49 point lead at half time and were never headed. Can the Lions turn the tide in 2015 and revenge the heavy defeat or will the Cougars continue their march to back- back titles.
Don't miss this game as it brings the footy season back on the Downs in 2015. Both teams will be looing for a win to start the season and stamp their authority over who is the biggest cat on the Downs.
