Peninsula Power Women cemented their finals credentials with a confident 5-0 win over Moreton Bay United Women at A.J. Kelly Park on Saturday night.
Melissa Limov, who missed the opening rounds of the season, continued her startling form since returning to action against Souths United.
Limov netted four in the match and doubled her season tally to eight goals in three matches against Jets.
After Power were last week overrun by Olympic FC in a 4-0 loss at Goodwin Park, Limov ensured there would be no repeat by putting the hosts ahead 3-0 at the break courtesy of a first half hattrick.
Jets, yet to take a point from any of their opening four matches, managed to keep Allan Waller’s side quieter after the break but couldn’t prevent Limov from netting her fourth to make it 4-0.
With three points already sealed, Power still found time to make it 5-0 as former Sydney FC striker Brittany Whitfield scored her fourth of the campaign in the dying moments.
Speaking after the match, Power coach Allan Waller praised his side’s execution of plans.
“I thought we did very well. We were working on a few things and the girls stuck to that,” Waller said.
Jets coach Lorna Dent lamented her team’s opening but was pleased with chances created.
“We started a bit slow but then got back into it and I thought we were probably unlucky to go into half time at 3-0,” Dent said.
