Storm History at State Selections

Bellarine Storm

Bellarine Storm duo Eve Braslis and Agnes Emma-Nnopu have created history by becoming the Club’s first players to be selected to represent Vic Country.

Both members of the Storm under-16 girls team, Braslis and Emma-Nnopu were rewarded with selection after impressing at recent trials.

The girls will join their teammates for a series of training camps across country Victoria over the coming months, before heading to Ulverstone, Tasmania for the National Championships to be held from 4th – 11th July.

“We are extremely excited to have both Eve and Agnes in the 2015 Victoria Country State program,” Vic Country coach Gerard Hillier said.

“Both players are extremely athletic and have shown they have what it takes to compete at a National level”

“They have come in to the program with sound fundamentals and have shown they have what it takes to learn and develop quickly, which is a credit to the association and their coaches.”

Braslis has been a key member of the Storm representative program for the past four years under the guidance of coach Brendon Matthews.

Emma-Nnopu has also been a Storm player for four years, and is one of only two bottom-aged players in the final Vic Country team

While both will go in with rookie status at state representative level, neither will be unfamiliar with the pressures of a national tournament.

Both Brasilis and Emma-Nonpu were members of the Bellarine under-14 girls team that attended the National Club Championships in Ballarat in 2013, where the Storm finished ninth.

Bellarine Storm and Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association Inc. are extremely proud of the girls, and wish them all the best at the Nationals as they represent both our Association and Basketball Victoria Country.’
