Jets Six Appeal Is Undeniable

Second-placed Moreton Bay United has “six” appeal - six points; six goals and six different goal scorers from their first two PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland matches.
While delighted with the first two figures, it is the third statistic catching the eye of many Jets fans as the team prepares for Saturday’s clash with Sunshine Coast FC at Wolter Park.
Jets were the competition’s top scorers last season with 78 goals and relied greatly on PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2014 Golden Boot Royce Brownlie and strike partner Thomas Mendy, who accounted for nearly three quarters of the total haul.
In 2015, Brownlie has one goal while Mendy, who remains hugely influential, has yet to open his personal tally.
However, Jets coach Adam Piddick is not concerned and has identified the greater the share of goalscorers as a positive as he seeks to reinvent the team and qualify for a debut PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series appearance.
“We have a different style of play this season,” said Piddick. “We’re not so direct and down the middle.”
“We’re bringing other players in to the game and have had our full-backs (Matthew Zappone and Ryota Nakaoka) on the scoresheet.”
Piddick added, “I wanted dangerous wingers and a number 10 that can change a game if need be. So we recruited players to do a job,”
“But we’re not getting carried away after two games. Two wins doesn’t prove anything. We have to work hard to be consistent and keep improving.”
To that end Jets are training three times a week. The coach explained: “I’ve worked with three training sessions a week in the past. I think it gives us more contact, a more professional approach.”
Piddick reported “a couple of niggles” but no major concerns as he prepares for this weekend’s clash.
A big win over the third placed Fire could lift Jets to the top of the table ahead of Western Pride, who sit top of the standings on goal difference.
Jets clash with Fire is scheduled for 6pm this Saturday night at Wolter Park.
