Jets Tame Red Devils

Moreton Bay United have continued their winning start to the season with a 3-2 defeat of hosts Redlands United at Cleveland Showgrounds on Friday night.
Jets led from the 18th minute and were never caught, though a Graham Fyfe brace kept an exciting contest alive.
The visitors entered the match on a short turnaround from last Sunday’s opening-round win over Olympic FC but that only served to continue their momentum as Liam Previtera pounced on a partially-cleared cross for the opener.
It was a similar story in the 31st minute, when Ryota Nakaooka turn home a loose ball from a corner.
Jets’ two-goal lead barely lasted a minute though as player-coach Fyfe pulled one back almost instantly from close-range, cutting the away side’s lead in half at the break.
The free-scoring continued shortly after the restart with new Jets signing Daniel Clark netting a spectacular first for the club, making it 3-1 from long range in the 52nd minute.
Adam Piddick’s side were still finding it tough to keep Fyfe quiet as the attacker scored from an almost impossible angle to again pull the hosts within one with just over 20 minutes to play.
Fyfe’s brace was ultimately not enough, though, as Jets held firm, even going close to a fourth when Clark headed against the crossbar.
Speaking after the match, Redlands United assistant coach James Anderson blamed self-inflicted wounds for the defeat.
“If I look at it, probably all three goals came from our mistakes,” Anderson said.
Jets coach Adam Piddick was pleased with his team making it two on the trot.
“Obviously it’s good to get two from two. Coming here isn’t an easy prospect, especially being a junior club of mine,” Piddick said.
