The AFL has announced the names of the 13 players that have approval to play in matches for Essendon in the NAB Challenge after signing short-term contracts with the club.
Ten of the 13 players are VFL listed, with seven coming from Essendon’s VFL list.
Last month, the AFL Commission approved list concessions for the Essendon Football Club to ensure the Club could field a team during the NAB Challenge, as a result of the current AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal hearing.
The following players have permission to play: Mitch Brown (Sandringham), Mitch Clisby (previously listed with Melbourne), Josh Freezer (Essendon VFL), Aaron Heppell (Essendon VFL), Clinton Jones (Sandringham), Anthony McDonald-Tipungwati (Essendon VFL), James Magner (Port Melbourne), Marcus Marigliani (Essendon VFL), Sam Michael (previously listed with the Brisbane Lions), Jared Petrenko (previously listed with the Adelaide Crows), James Polkinghorne (Essendon VFL), Jordan Schroder (Essendon VFL) and Sam Tagliabue (Essendon VFL).
