Strikers Turn On Second Half Style
Words: Matt Dorman
Brisbane Strikers have launched a sparkling second half salvo to overcome Rochedale Rovers 4-0 at Underwood Park on Saturday evening.
The damage was done within a 30-minute period shortly after the restart as Strikers notched their fourth win from six pre-season games.
Despite having the better of the first half, the visitors had to wait until the 50th minute for Jonti Richter to make the breakthrough with a powerful effort from outside the penalty area.
Richter’s goal kicked off the Strikers’ onslaught as Westfield FFA Cup goalscorer Scot Coulson added a second within 15 minutes, driving his side into a 2-0 lead.
Kevin A’Herne-Evans’ men made the game safe when Luke Marsh tapped home from Jheison Macuace’s initial effort in the 72nd minute, while Trent Clulow added the polish from close range just five minutes later.
Clulow’s goal sealed the emphatic 4-0 win as Strikers quickly returned to winning ways after their midweek BLK Silver Boot draw against UQFC.
