UQ Net Two To Beat Olympic Women
Words: Matt Dorman
Two second-half goals have helped UQFC Women to a 2-0 win over Olympic FC Women in a pre-season friendly at Goodwin Park on Sunday evening.
Ai Matsuzaki scored first beyond the hour before Greta Bodey sealed the result deep into stoppage time.
The visitors came close to an early opener when Olympic 'keeper Katie Ronan was required to smother at the feet of UQ attackers, while Nat Tathem had a rare half chance for the hosts at the other end soon after.
An even affair was brought to life in the 66th minute when Matsuzaki turned home from a corner to make it 1-0.
Extended stoppage time was afforded in both halves due to drinks breaks and UQ took full advantage as Bodey sprung the offside trap to double the away side's lead in the closing moments.
Olympic FC Women 0
