Moreton Bay United coach Adam Piddick believes new recruits Daniel Clark and Jackson Hall can provide the ‘X-factor’ to the Jets attack in 2015.
Piddick said the duo will add yet more firepower to a Jets side that already boasting PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2014 Golden Boot winner Royce Brownlie and prolific French attacker Charles Mendy.
Clark netted twice in Jets 2-1 pre-season win over Brisbane Premier League outfit Logan Lightning, and Piddick explained he expects it won’t be the last of his goalscoring exploits in 2015.
“I think Daniel brings a bit of goals and creativity, which is something that you can expect to win you games,” Piddick said of the former Brisbane City player, who spent a large proportion of last season with MD FF Köping in Sweden.
“He’s got a sweet left foot and that’s something that we don’t have an abundance of here - he brings the ‘X-factor.’”
Piddick also singled out Hall, 20, who played under Piddick in the Brisbane Strikers Youth Men’s side last season.
“Jackson is an out-and-out winger. His work-rate, not only getting forward but also in his defensive duties, means that you will see a lot of hard work and hopefully some goals from him as well,” Piddick said.
Clark and Hall said working with Piddick, who has replaced Terry Kirkham at the Jets’ helm for 2015, was among the key reasons they chose to make the switch to Jets.
“There were a couple of players who I knew were looking to sign and play here and also the fact that there was a young coach here that I had heard about and what he wanted to do here,” Clark explained.
Hall agreed, “I came here because Adam gave me a call and I want to as many minutes as possible to try and improve as much as I can.”
“I’ve known Adam for a number of years, I’ve played with him and played for him at Logan Lightning FC and Brisbane Strikers U20s.”
With pre-season now ramping up, Clark said the signs were promising for Jets this season.
“There’s definitely room for improvement and we are only going to get stronger and stronger as the weeks go on, but at the moment we are looking really good.”
“Our attack is looking quite strong and we are just working on some things in the defence at the moment,” he concluded.
Jets will continue their pre-season on Saturday against Brisbane Premier League team Wolves FC at the Macron Cup in Redcliffe.
