Jets Start Pre-Season On A High
Words: Michael Flynn
Moreton Bay United started their run of pre-season fixtures with a 2-1 win over Logan Lightning on Saturday afternoon at Chris Green Park in Beenleigh.
Off-season Jets recruit Daniel Clark netted a second half brace - the former Brisbane City player scoring just before the hour to level terms and then in the final ten minutes to seal the win.
Lightning, who will compete in this year’s third-tier Brisbane Premier League competition, opened the scoring on 23 minutes through Jaspal Benning.
Jets were without star striker Royce Brownlie for the match, but returning 2014 regulars Jordan Farina, Mathew Capello, Sam Dickinson and Matthew Zappone all earned valuable match time under new head coach Adam Piddick.
Jets will continue their pre-season on Saturday against another Brisbane Premier League opponent in Wolves FC at the Macron Cup in Redcliffe.
Logan Lightning FC 1 (Jaspal BENNING 23’)
Moreton Bay United FC 2 (Daniel CLARK 56’ 84’)
