Sunshine Coast FC have re-signed midfielders Grant de Chastel and Reyze Kelly, ahead of their 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaign.
Nineteen-year-old de Chastel joined Fire half-way through 2014 and made an immediate impact as centre midfielder for the team in his nine appearances.
Kelly, 22, played for Northern Fury during the 2013 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season, before linking with Fire in 2014 for 24 appearances and six goals – including the side’s only hat-trick of the season against Brisbane Roar Youth.
Fire coach Paul Arnison said he was pleased to have secured the talents of both players for the 2015 season.
“Grant is a local boy who’s come through the system, he made a real impact in the team last year as a centre midfielder,” Arnison said.
“Despite being young he’s tough in the tackle and he’s good on the ball, and knows what he’s got to do for the team.”
“Reyze really found his feet towards the end of the 2014 season and he scored some excellent goals. His work rate and contribution to the team will be vital for 2015.”
Both de Chastel and Kelly said they were looking forward to a strong 2015 season with the Fire.
“I’m looking forward to working with Paul and Technical Director Melvyn and to the challenge of trying to make it into the finals,” de Chastel said.
“We have been working hard in pre-season and hopefully we will have all engines ticking for the start of the season,” he added.
Kelly agreed with his teammate, saying the aim is to qualify for the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals after falling short in the previous campaign.
“I believe the Fire is a great club and is moving forward in a positive manner. As a team we’d love to make finals, it’s on everyone minds and something the whole Club is striving for<,” Kelly said.
“On a personal level I also want to improve myself as an attacking player within the league and as a player,” he concluded.
The announcement takes the number of confirmed players for Fire to five for the forthcoming season, with further announcements expected.
