Words: Staff Writer
Northern Fury have appointed former North Queensland Football regional development officer Bill Mitchell as the club’s Technical Director for 2015.
Mitchell returns to the state’s north following a two-year stint as Technical Director of the Wide Bay region.
His new role will see Mitchell mentor Fury's players and coaches, give strategic, tactical and technical guidance, and manage the club’s talent programs.
He will also lead Fury's scouting network and will report to Director of Football and Head Coach of Fury’s PlayStation 4 senior men’s team, Ian Ferguson.
“We’re thrilled to announce Bill’s appointment. I know his expertise will be invaluable as we strive to be consolidate our position as a leading club in the National Premier League,” said Ferguson.
"Strengthening football in the North Queensland community through youth development is a key priority for us as we build from the grassroots up.”
“Bill has a proven track record in the industry and understands full well what it takes to succeed.”
I look forward to sharing ideas and listening to advice, as we work towards getting Northern Fury FC gets to where it belongs: long-term, hopefully in an expanded A-League or a second division but our highest priority at this point is to continue to advocate for a team in the W-League and National Youth League," said Ferguson.
Mitchell has relocated to Townsville over the festive season and is ready to assume duty when Fury training recommences later this month.
