5- Damon Collina; The second Bats nomination, this time from the ‘Adonis’ himself. The man who shared a man crush with teammate, Adam Baker was another to bullock his way for a call-up on sheer quantity of nominations. He was seen wearing a Swans jersey on a date with Sydney socialite, Laura Dundovic on Saturday afternoon. He also upon taking over a cleaning company as a second job told all Bats 'you need to be cleaned!’ He also formally requested that the Bats committee look into Bats pre-game turtle neck skivvies for season 2015 and beyond. "A timeless fashion item that knows no bounds in style or comfort," Collina was quoted as saying.
4; Michael May; The “Whiz” was one of Danny’s favourites this year, always finding himself in the headlines. We were not sure what he did on the field, but made the most of limited opportunities this year by making his way on the front cover of the AFL Sydney record. He also was up in lights when Ant Rosen almost broke his vocal chords in the commentary booth celebrating a major from the “Whiz”. He was also seen on his couch referring to himself as the Nat Fyfe of AFL Sydney as he was ineligible for the Phelan Medal. To his disbelief, he only polled 2 votes.
Bronze Medal- Hayden Washington
Played a different role this year as the “Decoy” for Stan Milton Medalist, Brayden Fowler. He was more prominent it must be said off the field in 2014.
At Newcastle, representing the AFL Sydney Development Squad he was more than willing to get to know the Newcastle locals but may have to watch when and what he says in future.
He was also spotted with his shirt off sunbaking on the far wing on Saturday morning at BISP while his club’s Under 19’s were playing in their Preliminary Final. He has since received no modelling contracts offers nor a late nomination for Cleo Bachelor of the Year.
Silver Medal- Taylor Williamson
This one sounds too good to be true, but there has been plenty of validation from the Magpies boys so we will run with it. Normally sure under pressure on the field, Wests’ sharpshooter, Taylor Williamson was caught out on a recent date. When he left his date midway through telling her he was off to the bathroom, he ran across the road to a florist he then realised he left his wallet on the table and got caught stealing a rose. The poor girl on the date with him had to pay for dinner and the rose then go with him back to the police station and make a statement.
He has since been spotted numerous times at the Coogee Pavilion trying to fit in the upper class clientele.
Gold Medal- Matthew Chaplin
As controversial a selection since Scott Miller was admitted into the Australian cricketing test team given it is one from the archives but no-one has got as much national exposure as the former head honcho of the Macquarie University Football Club.
Chappo had become an instant celebrity in 2010 for his infamous Wheel of Fortune fail on Youtube (with over 500,000 views so far you can bump it up by clicking on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jEzxWKVncY).
When shown this initially, Danny looked on with a mixture of laughter and almost disbelief at the surreal footage of “T for Tom”. It has been matched in recent times by a young female on another game show, the Hot Seat, selecting the wedding anniversary ring as the answer to which of the following correct answer is a burger ring.
