Footscray are the latest Peter Jackson VFL side to announce a late coaching change, with Ash Hansen set to lead the reigning premiers in season 2015.
Premiership coach Chris Maple will complete 12 months as Footscray senior coach with the perfect record of one season and one premiership, as he takes on the Head of Development role at the Western Bulldogs - responsible for the overall player development strategy.
Hansen is no stranger to the Footscray VFL side, having been midfield coach for the premiership team this year, and will take on his first senior coaching role.
He joined the Western Bulldogs as a Development Coach in 2013 after spending two years at Swan Districts following his departure from West Coast Eagles at the end of 2010.
In total Hansen spent a decade at Districts with the club being the Eagles’ aligned WAFL side, playing in the 2010 premiership and taking on an assistant coach role in 2012.
Hansen is the fifth coaching change of the off season, following changes at Casey Scorpions, Frankston, Geelong and Sandringham.
