Returning Brisbane Strikers utility Scot Coulson says a third coach in three seasons will be no impediment to the club’s title tilt in 2015.

Former Sunshine Coast FC coach Kevin A’herne-Evans has taken the reins at Strikers for 2015, following on from Chay Hews in 2014 and Technical Director David Large the season before.

Coulson, a Queensland Academy of Sport product and former Brisbane Roar NYL player, said the coaching changes haven’t deflected from the club’s football philosophy.

“Every coach has their own way of doing things but they are also very similar in that they are mindful of following the Strikers system of playing football,” he explained.

“So the goal is still the same. The goal is still to produce quality young players and to win things.”

The 20-year-old added that he and his teammates might even benefit from combining the insights of the three keen footballing minds to become more rounded players.

“I think each coach has something they can offer to the whole team and some coaches can offer more to individuals as well to improve them,” Coulson explained.

“You will look at the coaches you’ve had and there are always a few things that you learn here and a few things that you learn there.”

“So, in my opinion, I don’t find it disruptive at all. I find it good because you are learning things that you didn’t learn before, getting a different perspective on the way you play and shedding a different light on things.”

As a natural left-sided player, Coulson has been deployed at both fullback and as a winger in 39 appearance over the past two PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaigns.

Coulson said A’herne-Evans hadn’t told him yet where he will fit into Strikers 2015 formation, but that he will be content to play anywhere just so long as he is in the team.

“We haven’t really discussed much about that as yet. I’m just working hard because we have a lot of young talent and you got to work hard to keep a spot.”

“I’m really just happy to be part of the team. If the gaffer said to go in goal, then I would go in goal,” he joked.

Despite pre-season only recently commencing, Coulson said he was confident Strikers will be in the running for silverware in 2015.

“We’ve got a really good mix of youth and senior players. We made the finals last couple of years and we’d like to go one better.”

“Whatever competition you enter you want to win. As a squad that’s the mentality and that’s what we train for and with the team we’ve got we can hopefully achieve that,” he concluded.
