Moreton Bay United have confirmed a further five signings for 2015, including two attacking recruits from rival PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs.
New Jets coach Adam Piddick recently resecured the services of goalkeeper Luke Borean, midfielder Jonathan Marraiya and defender Alex Henderson.
In addition to the reliable trio, Piddick has also signed Jackson Hall from Brisbane Strikers and Daniel Clark from Brisbane City.
Piddick said he was confident his two new recruits will add extra sparkle to a Jets side that started 2014 strongly, before fading in the second half of the season to miss out on an inaugural PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals appearance.
Twenty-year-old Hall, who Piddick has slated for a role on the left wing at Jets, made a total of 19 appearances for Strikers in 2014 and scored four goals for the eventual Semi-Finalists, as well as appearing in Strikers' Westfield FFA Cup campaign.
“I’ve known Jacko for a long time and I got him in at Strikers originally from Logan Lightning,” Piddick explained.
“So Strikers have signed another winger and with all the boys coming back from injury there he thought he wasn’t going to get enough chances to progress from last year, so he’s made the move.”
Clark, 24, switches to Jets from City, where he made three late season appearances in 2014 after returning from a stint with Swedish clubMD FF Koping.
Piddick said he foresees the versatile attacker playing primarily behind star striker Royce Brownlie next season.
“He can play anywhere in that front four as an attacking midfielder or a ‘number nine’ or as a winger,” Piddick explained.
He also added that he expected a bigger role from Marraiya, who, after playing 18 matches for Jets in 2013, saw his development delayed last season by a knee injury.
“Apparently he did his ACL last year so he is now just coming back from injury,” Piddick said.
“He planned to have trials at Sydney FC before he did it, but he’s still only young and he looks very sharp in training.”
Piddick said that while he is now confident he has the attacking outlets required, he will focus on securing the side’s defences and stated a change of formation is top of his priorities.
“We’ve been working in our intra-club games to get behind the ball,” he explained.
“(Last year) they played a 4-4-2 diamond, which meant they scored a lot of goals because they played through the middle a lot, but they also conceded a lot in transition.”
“So we’re not going to play two up top. We’ll play a 4-3-3 and, obviously when we’re defending we’ll be looking to get those wingers in behind to protect the back four a bit more,” Piddick concluded.
The signings take Jets confirmed squad to eleven for the upcoming season.
