Seven players from the regions State Championship winning side have been named in the two tiered Youth Girls Academy Squad for 2015, following the recent Youth Girls State Championships.
Dalby Swans Premiership players Danielle Wall and Jessi Henning, along with South Toowoomba Bombers best and fairest winner Chloe Macdonald feature in their respective tiers. Rookie search players Jemma Whitney, Grace Krautz and DD MVP Alice Mason have also been selected.
All-Australian Shaleise Law has also continued her stellar season with selection in the level 2 squad.
Krautz, Macdonald and Wall are previous State representatives, while Whitney, Mason and Henning will don the maroon for the first time in their new adopted sport.
The Academy was first established in 2008 for players between 15-18 who had shown potential in leadership and skill development at club, school or representative level.
For the first time Queensland will divide the Academy Squad into two levels; Level Two for players turning 17 and 18 in 2015 including those nominated for the National Indigenous team (‘Woomeras’), and Level One for those from 14-16 in 2015.
The Academy is a year round program, preparing players for the National Youth Girls Championships (Mandurah, WA, May 3 – 8, 2015) as well as the School Sport Australia Under 16s Championships.
The girls will undergo elite skill, tactical, and conditioning programs as well as off-field personal development training.
