The Wide Bay Wildcats U/17 girls team has performed well finishing 3rd at the Qld Youth Girls Championships at the weekend. In their first year as their own identity, Wildcats Coach Dean Backwell said, "The girls did our region proud. To finish of so strongly & win their Final against Townsville who had beaten us by a point the previous day showed a lot of Character within the group, which the girls steadily built throughout the Championships. A lot of girls played in the Final carrying injuries, but they were all so keen, which was great".
Brittany Ballin, Sarah Marschke, Lucy Thompson & Claudia Wharton were all selected in the Queensland squad to train & play in the coming months.
"Jade Johnson & Kiama Theuerkauf could also consider themselves as unlucky not to be chosen in the State Squad", Backwell said.
A further congratulations goes to Brittany Ballin, who was Wide Bays "Player of the Carnival".
