Brisbane Strikers have confirmed Wolves FC midfielder Trent Clulow as their newest squad addition for the 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season.

Clulow has been a stand-out performer for the bayside community club in the Brisbane Premier League since 2011 and Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for the community club in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

The 28-year-old contributed 66 goals in 98 appearances and has been named in the Brisbane Select Team against Sunshine Coast Select this weekend.

Clulow follows recent key signing Greig Henslee to Perry Park as recently appointed coach Kevin A’herne-Evans seeks to strengthen this year's PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Semi-Finalists ahead of the next campaign.

A’herne-Evans said he was delighted to have secured the signature of the versatile midfielder.

“Trent brings a wealth of experience to the group, having been a vital member of Wolves’ dominance in the BPL,” A’herne-Evans explained.

“He possesses a terrific work ethic and versatility, with the ability to play in a number of positions. And, most importantly, there is his execution in the final third, whether it be creating or finishing goal scoring opportunities.”

A’herne-Evans said he sought Clulow to refine Strikers’ cutting edge in a league renowned for attacking football.

“Trent joins a mouth-watering list of attacking players in our squad, with Thurtell, Richter, King, Macuace, Coulson and McVey”, A’herne-Evans said.

“To win this competition it is imperative to score over 70 goals. This list of impressive players will, I believe, help us achieve that.”

“Further, our junior players will benefit from observing these players in training and on game day to ensure that the quality we continue to produce is at the highest level”.

Clulow said the prospect of a fresh challenge was a big factor in tempting him to Perry Park.

“After a few years in the BPL, I guess it was the challenge of playing in a new league and the Strikers themselves, who have a strong history,” Clulow said. 

“When Kevin approached me it seemed like a great time to give it a crack,” he added.

Clulow said he was confident he can adjust his game to the passing football philosophy employed at Perry Park after a more direct style in his time at Wolves.

“I consider myself as maybe one of the more technical players at Wolves, and Kevin specifically believes that I’ll fit into the style of play quite well,” Clulow said.

“Wolves style of play has changed in the last couple of years to be a little bit more of a passing style moving forward so I think it will be a seamless transition,” he concluded.
