Trainnig started way back when on a Sunday and Wednesday night. Numbers ran from a dozen to close to forty on weeknights and weekends but regardless we were focussed and enthusiastic. We knew the challenge was going to be hard and the opposition would be fierce and we all stepped up to the plate.
Everyone who goes to the carnival goes to win, no-one goes to lose. Some new comers fronted up with the thought that they were there for a game of slap and tickle, but it was soon apparent that this meant something to us.
Everybody played their role to the fullest. I had some players come to me and say they didn't do enough, my reply was, the game is full of hundreds of micro plays. The shephers, the smother, the tap ons that happened at one end of the ground, may have resulted in a goal and it may have been the winning goal. It is all about being part of the team, and to Queensland's credit, that is what we do very well.
From Cairns to the Goldie, some of us have never trained together until the day before we play, but we team up extremely well. That is and was the winning key, to stay teamed up until the last second of the last game.
I am extremely proud of the support I was given throughout the whole carnival process. With the division one 45s and the division two 50s winning national recognition.
I thank the players in the 35s, 40s, 45s, 50s and 55s for making the effort because it is a lot of fun. Players we play against throughout the year become more a part of our lives and some of these will be mates for life.
On a lighter note, Moncur, Wazza and Richie Rayburn thought they could sneak home after an all nighter unseen, but failed miserably. They thought going through the back door, along the back alley, thinking they would have been invisible. Getting past the coach was never going to happen - caught out to the beJesus.
We have done our State proud. Until next year.

I would like to thank the Division 2 45s team for the effort that they put in over the week. It wasn't the easiest thing trying to put a team together at the last minute, we even struggled to have everyone there for the team photo and had to do a roll call afterwards as the coach had no idea what 80% of his team's players names were.
We put up a reasonable effort for the first two games going down by 49 and 50 points, but fell away in the last game losing by 106, with 6 on the bench for all games (despite those dirty Vic Metro people complaining). It wasn't the easiest think to move the magnets so that everyone got game time whilst trying to be competitive as we possibly could be, so to those that spent too much time on the bench my apologies.
Lastly and certainly not least, congratulations to Team Torso's All Australians, Gary Downes and his brother Tiger Turner, (whos 6 bounces and then kicking out on the full was one of the highlights) very well deserved.
