The move to the SANFL competition has put former UNSW/ES Bulldog, Adam Gulden on the radar of a number of AFL clubs.
The dynamic 23 year-old midfielder was a revelation this season with South Adelaide, capping the season off with an invite to the State Screening session.
Well-sized at 188cm and 85kg, Gulden is taking it all in his stride only a month after his side made the Preliminary Final.
“It has been really enjoyable, being able to train and play with some really good players and play in such a high standard competition was great for me to improve my game and to have some success was satisfying,” he said.
“It was a pretty consistent year, I was able to play every game in the League side and contribute each week. Playing in the finals at Adelaide Oval in front of some decent crowds was the highlight as well as being invited to the Draft State screening.”
His coach at South Adelaide, Brad Gotch was full of praise regarding the East Sydney junior’s contribution.
‘’He’s been creeping up on a few teams over the course of the year,’’ Gotch said.
‘’He’s been a really valuable player for us and has shown some brilliant things at times so I am glad he gets the opportunity to be tested.’’
Gulden for all his success still has links to the club with which he won the 2012 Grand Final and claimed the Rod Podbury Medal as best afield against Balmain.
“My closest mates are from UNSW/ES and I'm always in contact with them and get down to watch at the Village Green whenever I'm home,” he enthused.
“I was able to develop and really enjoy my football at UNSW/ES and learn from some great players and coaches which enabled me to improve as a player as well as gain the confidence to test myself at a higher level.”
He doesn’t need to look far for motivation either with former teammate, Dane Rampe excelling with the Sydney Swans.
“He's someone I look up to and seeing him playing so well at the highest level after working hard to get there is awesome.”
