AFL Queensland today released the official fixture for the upcoming Under-17 Youth Girls State Championships at the AFL Queensland Administration and Training Centre at Yeronga.
Darling Downs will play four round robin games inside three days, with the fourth day fixture dependent on results from the matches.
Up first DD face the Townsville Eagles but the Demons toughest task comes on Day three of the championships when they face the title favourites the Capricornia Cobras.
Darling Downs Coach Jeff Neumann believes every game will be a tough task but already believes one side would have to be favourites.
"It is exciting times, we have 16 to 17 girls that have never played at the State Championships before but they are all ready to go,"Coach Neumann said.
"I know we will be competitive, we have some fantastic athletes in our side."
"I would like to think we are favourites but at this stage the Capricornia Cobras would have to be the favourites to take out the title," Neumann told www.DarlingDowns.AFLQ.com.au
Not giving too much away, Neumann noted a few key players as players to watch from the region.
"We have a few players with state and national honours in Shaleise Law, Chloe MacDonald, Danielle Wall add to this Queensland merit representative Grace Krautz and numerous players from diverse sporting backgrounds, Jeff said.
"Our main aim is to develop each player both as players and individuals, if we do this right, then results should go our way."
"Win or lose, I am confident we have been able to engage each player as a long term player, supporter of our great game."
