Harimau Muda Depart NPL Queensland

Football Queensland (FQ) and Football Association Malaysian (FAM) have confirmed that Harimau Muda ‘A’ will not compete in the 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland competition.
A review of the team’s participation resulted in FAM officials and Harimau Muda coaches electing to field the representative Under 23 team in Singapore’s S-League competition next season.
FQ Chief Operations Officer Ben Mannion said he was grateful for the unique opportunity and experience Harimau Muda provided Queensland’s elite club footballers last season.
“It was great to have an international representative side in the NPL last season and we believe our clubs and players benefitted from playing against them,” Mannion said.
“An invitation was extended for Harimau Muda to return in 2015, however the Football Association Malaysia decided they were better placed closer to home.”
“We respect that decision and wish Harimau Muda all the best in the S-League,” Mannion added.
Football Queensland is currently reviewing the composition of the Queensland's elite club football competition following the conclusion of the 2014 season last month.
The twelve remaining clubs from the 2014 season will continue to compete for the 2015 season.
Harimau Muda ‘A’ were the first international representative team to compete in an Australian domestic football league and finished the 2014 season in ninth place with nine wins from 24 matches.
